Sarah has always been in the Healing Arts, so being drawn to Yoga was a natural progression. She was introduced to Astanga Yoga in 1998 by Julie Martin and Kristina Karitinos-Ireland. Her enthusiasm took her to Mysore India in 2002 where she studied Theraputic Yoga, Pranayama and the Sutras. This led to her assisting Julie Martin daily in Brighton, U.K for 2 years. In 2004 Russell Case took over the programme and invited Sarah to continue assisting gaining her even more experience. At the end of the year Russell suggested she take over the programme herself. Sarah has been teaching at 6:30 a.m ever since. Sarah continues to pass on the Traditional method of Astanga yoga as taught to her in the lineage of Sri K.Pattabhi Jois. Loving this healing practice that can help everyone. Sarah's intention is to create a safe, nurturing and trusting environment that is comfortable and accessible to all. Having suffered a knee injury herself, the process of healing through daily practice is at the core of Sarah's teaching. Approaching her students with the compassion and understanding that she has learnt to give herself. As Guruji says, "Slowly, slowly". Sarah is currently the Director of Astanga at the Brighton Natural Health Centre. She continues her yogic studies and is a regular visitor to Mysore India. |
